Frequently Asked Questions
Where will my Portrait be taken?
All photos are taken on location. Business portraits may be arranged at your office location.
Will my photos be retouched?
Following your portrait, your images will be professionally retouched and uploaded to a secure website within a couple of days at the most.
Retouching for family and pet portrait photography will have a natural result and for business headshot photography will have more polished professional result.
What should I wear?
Generally, it's a good idea to avoid bold patterns or big logos.
For more casual family portraits wearing light to midtones helps to convey a positive and relaxed mood. For more formal family portraits, make sure everyone agrees on the dress code, whether it's smart casual or more dressy, for the best possible results.
Business Head Shots:
Choose clothing which will reflect the image of your industry or organisation.
Please feel free to bring along a few options for advice before your shoot. Females may like to bring a few different jewellery pieces, scarves, jackets or shirts, and males can bring a few shirts, jackets and ties.
Tips for self styling your Hair and Makeup
Please note that hair and makeup is not included in prices.
Hair: After styling hair, be sure to use a hair finishing product or hairspray to help control fly away hair.
Makeup: It's important to know that flash can sometimes enhance flaws. It's a good idea to wear a bit more foundation than usual and to use concealer if needed to hide dark circles, redness or obvious blemishes.
Try to avoid shiny or glittery makeup. If you have great skin and never wear foundation, you may like to use a tinted moisturiser with a powder finish.
Most women benefit from making their eye makeup a little more intense, however avoid glittery eyeshadow. A stronger eyeline can help to draw attention to the eyes.
Feel free to bring your makeup along to your shoot for any touchups required or advice needed.
What if I have concerns about my body?
If you feel self conscious about a certain part of your body (as most of us do) it's a good idea to wear something that minimizes the area of concern.
For example, if you're self conscious about your arms, choose a top with longer sleeves or wear a jacket. Julie is always happy to help with any advice or questions you may have.
How many photos will be taken?
On the day of your portrait, a variety of images will be chosen and Julie will select the best images for you to view online.
